About
Drawing from analogue photographic techniques, Charlotte crafts many-layered reductive woodcut prints, imbuing them with a unique quality reminiscent of both photographs and paintings. In her darkroom, she transfers her own 35mm photographs onto plywood, skilfully transforming them into intricate prints with multiple layers of gradually darkening black ink. Through this labor-intensive process, she infuses ordinary moments with fresh significance, navigating the balance between traditional craftsmanship and artistic vision. With each print, Charlotte aims to encapsulate the essence of fleeting moments, inviting viewers to rediscover the beauty inherent in everyday life.
Charlotte is based in North London where she takes the photographs she uses for her prints on daily walks and bike rides, she works from a printmaking studio in Brixton. She has recently graduated from her postgraduate studies at Central Saint Martins in Graphic Communication Design.
